Dysfunction is Staind’s second studio album (written and produced in 1999). Like Tormented, the album has songs classified as Alternative metal, Metal and Nu metal. The album’s artwork is hard to make out, but here is what can be seen. A black background, with what look like a clown with marking above his or her eye (possibly blood) and a green shirt with 3 buttons and a white glove, the album artwork (if you notice) reflects the clown meaning regardless of if you look at the album cover right side up or upside down, the clown still looks back at you (not in a creepy way). Also like tormented, the album has screaming in some songs (not as many though). As previously mentioned, the album has a re-recorded version of “Mudshovel” (which is a radio friendly version in this album). Also like tormented, the album contains a hidden track (after the track “Spleen” which ends at 4:37 and following around 8 minutes of silence goes into the hidden track “Excess baggage”. Also notice one final thing, the “Parental advisory: Explicit content” label is missing! While it’s not known if they added it, the album does have explicit songs (i.e: Crawl, Mudshovel, Spleen, etc.)
Dysfunction was far more successful than the previous album “Tormented”, the dysfunction album sold around a million copies (they can still be bought today, just search up “Staind 1999 dysfunction album” then go to shopping!) However, it still got mixed reviews (like the previous album “Tormented”).
